I’ve been a driving instructor for 11 years, I love teaching people of different ability, age and nationality. I teach to the highest standards and understand that learning how to drive can be challenging, so my approach to your development will be caring and personal, taking stress out of learning.
The key to my success is to ensure that learner drivers have mastered the basic car control skills before venturing onto bigger more challenging topics. This not only ensures smooth and professional use of the controls, but also helps to build your confidence. My techniques are flexible to suit a whole range of different learners. The pace of the course is determined by how quickly the learner adapts and how long it takes to achieve independence in each of the skills required.
I absolutely love my job, every day is different and I love working with people. There is nothing more rewarding than teaching someone to drive and then being there when they pass their driving test.
It’s really important to learn how to drive safely right from the beginning – bad habits are hard to break after all! Driving sinstructors are specially trained to teach you what you need to know to be safe on the road and pass your test. They have lots of experience and knowledge about driving, which they’ll use to help you become a confident, safe driver.
The practical driving test includes an eyesight check, safety questions and about 40 minutes of driving which involves a section of independent driving.
An automatic licence allows the holder to drive a car with automatic transmission, or an automatic gearbox. If you hold a full UK driving licence then you can also drive an automatic car, but it doesn't work the other way around.
You can apply for a provisional driving licence when you're 15 years and 9 months old. You can start driving a car when you're 17. You can drive a car when you are 16 if you get, or have applied for, the enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment ( PIP ).
